Meet Kemp & Kemp Catering Limited (Richard, Karen and other team members).

We are specialist wedding caterers in Staffordshire and cover the West Midlands, Birmingham, Warwickshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, Worcestershire, Cheshire and Leicestershire. We run the company and have a host of great people we can draw on when we need help. 

                   

                         Richard & Karen and their team are all passionate about food.

FOOD, MENUS & CULINARY INFLUENCES. Karen is the inspiration behind all the food and is totally passionate about food and her catering. We cook everything ourselves. We never use a microwaves (Karen has never owned one). Karen was in the regional heats of BBC's Masterchef a few years ago, and was only eliminated by the eventual winner.

Karen is inspired by cooks like Nigel Slater, Ruth Rogers, the late Rose Gray (River Cafe), early Jamie - all underpinned by Delia, but is uniquely able to replicate the intimacy of these cooks in a wedding situation. Her latest 'hot fave' cook is Ottolenghi!!

Her approach to food is no-nonsense and she believes we live to eat, not the other way around... that's why most of this website is about food not waffle.

WHERE IT BEGAN - ON FARMERS MARKETS. We began making and selling homemade food in late 2007 with stalls on Farmers Markets across the Midlands. We've had stalls as far afield as Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Ludlow and a great many places in between, including Clarence House on The Mall in London in 2010. Whilst doing these markets we were able to build up a great network of local contacts in the food scene in the Midlands. This means we can source fresh, seasonal, local food for your wedding from our many friends & colleagues... like: 

CHEESE. When we need great cheese we go to our friend Phil Hulland who lovingly dedicates himself to making artisan cheeses at his dairy in Lower Broadheath - see www.lightwoodcheese.co.uk, or our Staffordshire farmer friends John & Lucy Heath (and son Tom) who make the most amazing blue cheese from the milk of their own cows at Ellenhall Grange, Staffordshire - see, www.bertelinfarmhousecheese.co.uk.

CAKES. When we need great cakes we contact our friend Sarah Edwards near Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, see www.sarahedwardscakes.co.uk, or up north, Melanie Ingram is a master cake maker.

EASTERN NIBBLES. When we need superb, fresh authentic samosas or similar Indian goodies (including wheat and gluten-free), our friend Afia from the markets is always on hand. Sublime, authentic, fresh and (just like all our food) home cooked.. see www.afias.co.uk.

ASPARAGUS. When we need asparagus (and when its in season) we always prefer to get it from R. T. Lee's Lodge Farm at Quatt, Bridgenorth.

MEAT. We increasingly use our friend Martyn Mottershead's fantastic (and always crowded) butchers shop in Stafford, see  www.mmfinefoods.co.uk. Martyn (and his friends) also shoot game for us (in the shooting season anyway).

PATE. We've made and sold our own homemade pate on farmers markets for several years now - see www.thehomemadepatecompany.co.uk so you can be sure when we serve pate at your wedding it will be just as amazing as everything else - and (of course, like everything else) it will be made by us.

EGGS. Our two hens (Gwyn and Elaine) provide us with at least some of the free-range eggs we use to make the sauces we create - like, mayonaise, bearnaise or hollandaise.

TARTS. Since 2007 we reckon have made and sold over 80,000 savoury tarts on farmers markets. We often serve tarts as veggie alternatives for weddings, and can make some amazing varieties like Karen's favourite  'Provencale' - that's homemade pesto, tomatoes, olives, basil on the most divine pastry base - light, golden, tasty, life changing!
